Pain Assessment

The purpose of this assessment is to demonstrate your ability to integrate theory to practice by consolidating what you have learnt this semester in a case analysis.
Choose a patient from your clinical practice with either acute, chronic or cancer pain and provide an analysis of their pain management and its effectiveness.
It is important to obtain patient consent and maintain patient confidentiality.
You must also state that the patient gave consent

In your discussion:

summarise the patient’s relevant history (max 150 words)
discuss the biopsychosocial factors that may influence this patient’s current pain experience
identify and describe the type of pain the patient is experiencing in relation to their underlying disease pathology, injury or chronic condition.
evaluate the pain management strategies used for this patient and compare these to current best practice guidelines
critically evaluate any adjunct strategies that were, or could have been used, to complement the patient’s holistic pain management plan
