Task Description:

Final Research Paper (3,000 words) (60 marks)

The topic and structure of the final research paper should be based on your preparatory outline. You should, include at least 5 research articles and relevant selections from the weekly course readings and set texts. The minimum components of the final research paper are:

1. An introduction, containing an explanation of the topic to be researched and a statement of the writer’s intention.

2. A review of relevant research literature.

3. Discussion of the key issues as relevant to your topic.

4. The primary and secondary methods used to collect data and/or information (as relevant).

5. The implications of your findings on your chosen topic for teaching/learning English or additional non-native languages.

6. Summary and recommendations or conclusion.

Notes on format and layout

1. The word count does not include the in-text citations, side headings or the list of references consulted.

2. Use referencing style: APA6th (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th ed.).

3. Format: Pages must be typed on one side of A4 paper; 1.5 spaced; leave 2.54 cm margins (i.e. Normal settings in Word).

4. Font: Times New Roman 12-point (main text and reference list).

5. Insert page numbers and a reference list.

6. Insert a title page with the assignment title, your student name and number, your Safe Assign* percentage and a word count.

7. Insert the marking rubric after the title page.

Criteria & Marking:

Final research paper assessment criteria

A marking rubric will be provided for these criteria on the course website. It must be inserted into your final assignment. See instructions below.

1. The scope and focus of the paper are clearly explained. There is a clear statement of aims and a rationale for the paper (8).

2. The content of the paper is relevant, critical and analytical, with a clear line of argument (12).

3. Demonstrated understanding of the sociolinguistic issues related to the chosen topic and their educational relevance (10).

4. Appropriate and critical reference to the relevant literature, which is well linked into the paper. Primary and secondary sources and any original data (where relevant) are effectively interpreted (15).

5. Conceptual understanding and capacity for analytical thinking about relevant theories and content (i.e. not just description but critical analysis and reflection, referring to the literature where relevant (10).

6. Appropriate presentation format with section headings, intelligible use of formal academic English and appropriate and accurate referencing (5).

Very important Notes:

1. Reading the course profile and rubric sheet carefully is very important to do the assignment correctly.

2. The based preparatory outlines that I already did, is marked and attached with the files I’m attaching to the order. ( I attached the marked copy to use the comments that are given by the Lecturer to help you in doing the final paper correctly and as requested.

3. The 5 articles and text book from course reading are also attached with the Order.

4. As you see in the preparatory outlines file, in the last section of methods , I mentioned that I will be doing a primary method of students to fill discourse test. However, I didn’t do that so you have to depend on secondary sources as methods.
