also the instructions are below hes anal very anal about his directions.

First summary:
The first summary you will do for the document titled “Ch. 3 How not to…”
You must follow these directions (be sure to print these out or cut-copy-and-paste in a word document in order to review them):
(a.) You must follow the heading format.
(b.) The file format must be .doc format.
(c.) You must follow the spacing, numbering and so forth that you see in the model. In addition, summaries must be single-spaced, size 12 font, Times New Roman.
(d.) There is no set number of premises that you must bring into your standard form model. You must simply select as many premises as are necessary in order to make

the conclusion valid. So, some arguments may have, say, 5 premises, others could have more or less.
(e.) There must not be anything else placed in the document aside from that information.
(f.) You must follow the citation system. Again, it is (x.y.z)–put differently (x=page #. y=paragraph #. z=paragraph #). This direction is a good exercise in logic.

Follow these rules: a paragraph is only a paragraph if it is within the body of the document, not if it merely introduces who the author is and so forth; any words,

even if they are not a complete paragraph, constitute the first paragraph of the page (if you simply see at the top of a page, "…end of sentence." and the

next paragraph is indented, it is actually "…end of sentence." that is the first paragraph).
Again, as stated in class, you are going to be given a paraphrase of each of the author’s 4 conclusions. You must find the sentence that corresponds to the paraphrase,

cite it according to our system, and type it up.
Be sure to review these rules, some of them are necessary conditions and not following those conditions forfeits all credit.
This summary will be based on the Regan reading attached to the previous posting.
Here are the four paraphrases of the conclusions:
(a.) Moral claims are not personal preferences.
(b.) Thinking something so does not actually make it so.
(c.) Statistical data is irrelevant to resolving moral problems.
(d.) Appealing to a moral authority doesn’t necessarily provide you with what is right.
So, look at the template provided, and then find the original statement in each section that corresponds to the paraphrased conclusion I gave, and then simply find the

premises in those sections that would seem to guarantee the conclusion. Please avoid putting the conclusion in the premises.
